Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen for a Craftsperson Civils based in Church Village to cover the Cardiff area. In this role you will be required to coordinate civil works in substations and on private properties.

Main Responsibilities

The role includes organising minor works contractors, dealing with customers, works programmes and financial management. You will be accountable for on-going maintenance and repair of existing substations and for providing services to other network teams as required.

The Ideal Candidate

You will have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Ideally you will have a Level 2 qualification in Construction along with some experience in building maintenance and construction. Consideration will be given to applicants who do not possess all the skills required to undertake the role at present but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training. If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to study for the City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering and complete a task report – which includes daily diary page completion, and a number of tasks and reports as required.

Candidates are also required to have A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both subjects.

You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on the spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential, as you will be required to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. In addition, you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.

*It is likely that the successful candidate will start on a salary of £28,170 until all required criteria is achieved.
