Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen for a Craftsperson (Fitting) based in Hinckley to cover the Leicester area. 

In this role you will be required to undertake maintenance of plant and switchgear up to 132kV.

You will be responsible for all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment relevant to this role.  You will carry out risk assessments and maintain safe working practices and be able to operate hand held IT equipment.

You will ensure the quality of works meets with current policies and procedures, ensure that works are carried out to meet guaranteed service standards and ensure the security of vehicle, tools, plant and equipment.

You will act as an ambassador for Western Power Distribution to deliver excellent customer service.

The starting salary for the successful candidate will be £28,170 until the required competencies are achieved.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will ideally have substation experience. Consideration will be given to applicants who do not possess all the skills required to undertake the role at present but have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.

If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to study for the relevant City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Engineering and complete TAR – which includes daily diary page completion, and a number of tasks and reports as required.

You must be able to work on your own initiative as part of a small team, making on the spot decisions as required and working to tight deadlines. A flexible attitude is essential, as you will be required to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. In addition, you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.
