Job Introduction

Applications are invited for the position of Network Planner based at Kettering, working from Leicester.

The duties will involve the preparation of capital projects from the initial enquiry to the point of delivery, including the design of new supply connections to the Network and Network Reinforcement/Replacement schemes. 

If you are offered a position, you will be required to complete and provide a satisfactory basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

*You may initially be appointed on a lower salary until the successful completion of all relevant training.

Main Responsibilities

  • The planning, preparation and delivery of new connections, alterations and capital projects
  • To effectively communicate with customers throughout the process
  • The organisation of individual projects, including managing cost effectiveness
  • Take into consideration the impact of projects on customers, the public and the environment
  • To design schemes which are safe and identify and communicate specific safety considerations according to the CDM regulations.
  • Use of the company systems including CROWN, EMU, DES, E5, Network analysis tools & MS OFFICE to prepare schemes and commercial reports.  

The Ideal Candidate

  Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of:-

  • The design and delivery of projects in accordance with Engineering Directives
  • Preparation of quotations and correspondence with customers
  • Network operations at LV and HV
  • Dealing with customers directly including Architects, ICPs, Developers, and Businesses

The successful candidate will be required to hold a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 and if not already attained will be required to undertake Level 3.

The successful applicant will be logical, numerate, accurate, and well organised. Applicants may not necessarily possess all the skills required to carry out the role at present but should have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with training.

Where appropriate, the appointment will initially be on a designate basis pending completion of the required training. A flexible attitude is essential as you may be asked to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting its objectives. In addition, you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.
