Job Introduction

Applications are invited for an Electricity Network Planner based in Birmingham area.

You will be involved in designing, costing and quoting projects for new electricity supplies and the replacement / diversion and reinforcement of existing electricity network assets.  You will take part in detailed technical discussions with customers, architects, public authorities and landowners both over the phone and in person during site visits.

You need to hold GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above in Maths and English Language in order to apply. The successful candidate will be required to hold a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 (or equivalent qualification deemed to be at the same level) and if not already attained will be required to undertake a Level 3.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to complete and provide a satisfactory basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.

* Please note the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant training is complete.

Main Responsibilities

The main activities within the role will include:- 

  • The planning, preparation and delivery of new connections, alterations and capital projects
  • To effectively communicate with customers throughout the process
  • The organisation of individual projects, including managing cost effectiveness
  • Take into consideration the impact of projects on customers, the public and the environment
  • To design schemes which are safe and identify and communicate specific safety considerations according to the CDM regulations
  • Use company systems including CROWN, EMU, DES, E5, LV Network analysis tools and MS OFFICE to prepare schemes and commercial reports

The Ideal Candidate

Ideally the successful candidate will have some experience of:- 

  • The design and delivery of projects in accordance with Engineering Directives
  • Preparation of quotation and correspondence with customers
  • Network operations at LV and HV

A flexible attitude is essential as you may be asked to undertake other duties to assist the team in meeting it's objectives. In addition you will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may be required to undertake standby duties.
